課程概述 |
本課程是對流傳於西藏和廣義的藏地的佛教思想和文化的綜合性概述，其內容涉及藏傳佛教的歷史及各種哲學、宗教和文學的傳統。課程不預設任何佛教知識背景，其結構分為兩個部分，前半部分總結藏傳佛教的歷史，尤其探討在佛教後宏期出現的宗派。後半部分側重於藏傳佛教哲學的量論傳統及空性理論，其中量論傳統展示藏傳佛教的知識論和因明邏輯理論，後者則論證闡發人和世界的真實本質，本課程將著重閱讀探討三種重要的空性理論：（1）覺囊派篤補巴的他空見；（2）格魯派創始人宗喀巴的中觀思想；（3）代表薩迦派正統的國燃巴在其中觀著述中對上述兩家的回應。 |

課程目標 |
1.由縱向了解藏傳佛教的歷史以及橫向認識藏傳佛教的主要宗派，從而對這一佛教傳統獲得綜合性的理解
2.由閱讀重要的藏文佛教、史學、文學和哲學著作的譯本而熟悉藏文化自身的知識體系，並獲得廣泛閱讀詮釋西藏文本的能力
3.對於數家藏傳佛教哲學思想獲得深度的理解，為從事藏傳佛教思想史和哲學研究打下紮實的基礎
4.熟悉國際藏學研究的重要成果和人物，由閱讀國外藏學和藏傳佛教思想哲學的研究而獲得國際人文學術的訓練 |

課程要求 |
一、除了老師講授之外，上課時每位同學應該針對每週的議題積極發言。
二、修課同學須選擇各自感興趣的閱讀內容繳交三篇「回應報告」（reading response），每篇一頁。回應報告的內容可以包括閱讀總結、批判性分析或探討閱讀材料中的問題等。
三、期中考試前會分發考試準備指南。
四、修課同學須於學期末提交4000–5000字論文一篇，主題自選。 |
